4007

Krisz was the very first lucky person in Hungary who had the opportunity to checkout the first jeep by Peugeot, the brand new model called 4007. We enjoyed and pushed an advantage provided by the spitting family car the last whole weekend. We were very satisfied with its marching achivement, equipping, conveniences. The 4007 is manufactured in Japan, not by the French as usually the other Peugeot models and its engine is based on the engine of Mitsubishi. Presumably it will be our next automobile.

We have the sixth tooth cutting and had the first haircut by a hairdresser.

First Easter (exactly) at the Age of 8 Months

The stormy weather has overthrown our plans, it was raining and the wind was blowing all day long on Easter Monday, the ski tracks have been reopened. We’d have liked to visit Hollókő, the famous city which maintains Easter traditions, ways and customs as a part of the world heritage. Instead going out I was busy with preparing Easter dishes, egg liqueur and baking lamb and rabbit shaped cakes. We visited the grandparents on both side and the great-grandmother (on Krisz’s side) on Sunday. She had guests and they also took delight in Dominik’s eventuating. The weekend promises to be very warm, so we’re going to make up for what we’ve missed at Easter. Till then we take pleasure in the sight of spring flowers blowing, the trees in blossom.

Fifty Candles

Great age, a half century. I think we managed to celebrate and present my father worthily. Ancsa, Lajos, Krisz and me acted jointly and shared the expenses. We didn't have to bothered our head much about the perfect present. We thought out that a navigation system would be useful and would make Dad happy. He was surprised to see his favourite alcoholic drink Jagermeister with his own face on it called "Pálmeister" and his favourite cake with 50 Pali faces on top. Guests were invited from the country including my godfather (my father's brother, see under) whose manner of speaking, locution, popular phrases and words he uses always amuse us. They stayed for a few days and we made excursions and everyone tried Krisz' motorcycle.

One breastfeeding is substitutable with food in the middle of the day. Dom's absolutely favourite is rice combined with any kind of vegetable or fruit. He has the fourth tooth cutting and started to be dependent on me...

Without Visa

"Kanada március másodikától eltörli a vízumkötelezettséget Magyarországgal, Lengyelországgal, Litvániával és Szlovákiával szemben - jelentette be Diane Finley bevándorlásügyi miniszter. A bejelentéshez kapcsolódóan Göncz Kinga külügyminiszter azt közölte: a döntés értelmében ezentúl vízum nélkül utazhatnak Kanadába azok a magyar állampolgárok, akik legfeljebb három hónapig akarnak ott maradni. Ez alatt az időszak alatt azonban nem vállalhatnak munkát az országban.
A három hónapnál hosszabb tartózkodás továbbra is vízumköteles. A miniszter közleményében a magyarok iránt megnyilvánuló kanadai bizalom és elismerés jelének nevezte a lépést.
A magyar kormány vállalta, hogy együttműködik a kanadai hatóságokkal konzuli és rendészeti ügyekben a felmerülő kérdések megoldása érdekében, a magyar utazókat pedig arra kérték, tájékozódjanak a kanadai vízummentes beutazás és az országban való tartózkodás szabályairól - derül ki a közleményből.
Kanada 2001. december 5-én vezetett be újbóli vízumkényszert a magyar állampolgárokkal szemben. Ezt akkor azzal indokolták, hogy 1998 és 2001 között összesen 8600, csak 2001-ben 3500 magyar állampolgár folyamodott menekültstátusért Kanadában, amit helyi döntéshozók elfogadhatatlanul magas számnak tartottak.
Ezzel visszaállt az 1994. november 1. előtti helyzet, amikor a magyarok ugyancsak vízummal utazhattak az észak-amerikai országba. A távirati iroda információja szerint a kanadai hatóságok a vízumkötelezettség eltörlésének szombati bejelentése kapcsán is felhívták a figyelmet arra: el kell kerülni, hogy ismét bevándorlási hullám induljon el."

First Words

Considerable things happened and are still happening day by day. Dominik is beginning to find his tongue and became very talkative. He started to say ”ba-bba-bbba-ba” at the end of January. In an evening at the very beginning of February the all-day-long chitchat resulted in the first ”meaningful” word: baba (=dolly). His favourite blue coloured rubber rabbit could feel itself privileged because the first word was told to it. The second ”meaningful” word was mama on 13rd February. We were about to go home from Gekko, I was putting on my shoes, he was sitting in his carrier when he said out of nowhere clearly and well understandably: mama. I was so surprised because there was no ma-mma-ma previously. I put the word meaningful in quotes because I couldn’t know if these words were said consciously or they were the part of the new articulation that he started to discover (labials are on now among speech-sound like b, m, p).
Second important thing: rolling over on his side. He took much trouble over a toy holding in hand, lying on back then he turned on the left side and kept playing. He didn’t suspect that I saw him. I felt that he did it so I turned the video camera on. And he did it. He turned on the stomach and pulled out his arm. I go to him and what I was see on his face was a big smile elated with victory. When I couldn’t praise his action highly enough, the smile was change into a loud laugh. And I laughed with him.
Third big thing: he cut 2 teeth. They’re ribbed like raspers and sharp like knives.
And a not too joyful event: he cought his first cold. His nose was running, tears were flown on his face at every sneeze, he could breathe only through his mouth and was in a fever. We had fears, felt sorry for him. He is just an innocent baby, he couldn’t know what it was and what to do with it. Fortunately it wasn’t a lingering illness (2 days) and he took it quite easy.
Valentine’s Day was much more enjoyable and memorable not the same as the last one. Dominik and me was expecting Dad to heart-shaped chicken nuggets, with nicely laid table, candle-light and a little present. Our sweet li’l baby exactly knew how to behave, he fell asleep early.
We got same gatherings over, among others my mother-in-law’s birthday at our place in a surprise party way. This year will be full of round anniversaries: my father’s 50th, Krisz’ 30th birthday and not mentioned Dominik’s 1st b-day.

The new family member: Boni

Half a cake...

… belongs to the halfth birthday. Our SON has turned 6 months on 24th January. We tried to slurp apple juice from a spoon. First nutriment besides mother’s milk. He seemed to relish it but to tell you the truth we had to work hard for every draught. We need to get into practice. Peach juice, carrot juice etc. come next, then mashes come after the juices and vegeatble dishes will follow the mashes. Just step by step. There are food recommendable to avoid in the first year like egg, cow’s milk, flour etc. Dominik’s present weight is 10 200 grammes. He puts on 1-1,5 kilos per month. The nights are heavy at this time because of teething, althought I still haven’t discovered any little tooth. Sometimes he just cries out in the middle of the night and sleeps on, sometimes he turns on the waterworks and wants to sleep only in my arms not being alone with his pain. My sweet little baby.

GEKKO

Children’s day. Everyday. This is the motto of the early childhood skills development center where we attend on Wednesdays. According to the screening procedure we take part in personalized development courses led by a highly qualified educator. The courses include entertaining exercises combined with nursery rhymes which playfully develop abilities. I find this activity useful because
- we got to know Dominik’s abilities by mapping by an expert,
- we can make sure if we propel him in the right direction,
- it helps on the healthy mental and physical development,
- we mix in society, promotes being sociable by being with children at the same age,
- uncover the possibility of any kind of irregularity.
Let it be understood that it’s a good practice but we grew up without any early childhood skills development center, so I don’t think to go too far.

Manufacturing Salami

We were at my godparents’ place in the country yesterday. My father decided to make some salami and sausage. He brought down a deer, so the meat included deer, pork and (raw bacon for) lard. Dominik was passed from hand to hand, loved the country air sleeping outside and laughed a lot. Happy end of the day: after the evening feeding lying on my shoulder he laughed loud half asleep with closed eyes when I gave a little kiss on his neck.

New Year's Greetings

2008 has set in. It begins with steady snowfall and it’s still been snowing. New Year’s Eve was the shortest but not the worst one this year. We didn’t want to stay up late at night because of Dominik, we have to hold on on each day. I think we missed nothing.
We may congratulate ourselves if the first person we glimpsed in the New Year belongs to the opposite sex. It brings luck. We may have more money if we eat lentils on the first day of the New Year. And what about vows? Does anybody take any vow? I’d like to spend more time on me, not racing against the clock this year and when the breast-feeding is come to an end return to the active physical training. I miss it very much.

First Xmas (exactly) at the Age of 5 Months

Everything is peaceful and quiet now. The Xmas tree lights up the room, there are Xmas films on TV without intermission, Xmas songs still ring in my ears. There’s no trace of the crazy fuss. It’s time to relax and enjoy every moment of the rest of the holiday and of the rest of the year of 2007! Dominik is sleeping, Krisz has a rest as well. Deservedly. Well-earned rest for both. Krisz helped me a lot yesterday, he’s a real goodhusband, did the honours of the house and spent time playing with Dominik. Parents were invited for dinner and we did the dishes and the preparations with our whole heart. The festive board included two kinds of soup: turkey stew with tarragon, thick soup made of maroon with pure Canadian marple syrup on top. Then fish in breadcrumbs with mashed potatoes, roasted fish fillet in creamy sauce with dill, sirlion with vegetable rice balls and tartar sauce… Although there were comings and goings more than enough, Dominik adapted himself to the circumstances very well (new people, rousing him from his sleep, different bath-times, etc…) and was my right hand.

Advent Season

Preparations are getting on slowly but surely in course of time. Part of the honey cake presents are ready although this part was made through 3 days. First day mushing the ingredients together, second day forming and baking (improving considerably!), third day frosting. Things going on quite slowly where there is a little one – we don’t want to have a pang of conscience because of spending not enough time with him/her, so we try to make good progress step by step. Additionally, the highest temperature is around zero so we can’t spend much time outside.
And to top it all, an indigestion balked my plans last weekend in spite of the fact that Xmas is not here yet. It was a serious one and my physical condition was ghostlike comparable with my state of health during pregnancy. I was pulled down and got between the sheets for 2 days. Thank God, Dominik is fine and it didn’t influence over him and his feeding. Many thanks for Mum and family for their help and for doing for him.

Santa's coming...

We’re preparing for Xmas feverishly, although rather in thought than in action. Very soon we need to carry into execution. I’m going to prepare more presents made with my own hand this year, mainly honey-cake / gingerbread specialities. Cinnamon and cloves smell sweet during baking! I’ve already planned the festive menu. I can’t wait the holidays mainly because of Dominik. He certainly will love the sparkling lights, the colorful decoration, his first Xmas tree. If he has all the vaccination, we'll try the swimming that is for babies. They're crazy about it as I heard and said to be asking the mothers for going to swim if they could speak. We'll see.

Laughing out Loud

The sweetest sound for my ears what you produce. You’re giggling, murmuring, whooping, howling and sreaming repeatedly, ”singing and having a talk” and even your yawn is in a drawling tone. You like hearing your own voice. You can produce not only the repertory of crying but also you are able to communicate. You discover not only your voice but also your hands and fingers. I adore to see you keeping in the backward, how you are place your little hands exactly in the middle quite close to your face, take much trouble over your fingers – you catch them and move them slowly, one by one while seeing absorbedly. You stuff your fist into your mouth, touch your tongue with your forefinger and thumb. You’re able to grab objects deliberately and smile at your reflection in a mirror steadily. Your legs rise heavenward while you’re working on the playmat and beating the figures hanging above you. I also like the fluttering gesture what you produce with your arms when you are naked.

All Saints

Waking up to beatiful sunshine at this time of the year is a real present. We started the day with gardening. While Dominik was sleeping in the baby carriage, we raked together the leaves losing by the trees, layered some spring bulbs, bed out some non-freezing plants and dag up the bulbs of the freezing ones.
I visited my workplace with Dominik the day before yesterday. You might remember what I wrote when I left the company. It proves very very true that I took my departure at the best time possible. Well, RKB is being liquidated, the employees quit their job en masse. RKB has been already just R&K because B sold his proportion of property which was a coup de théátre, too. The reasons are not clear, the management hasn’t explained the situation till now, there are only guessings and rumours in the air. The news really got to upset me and caused a great stir but I’m not so embittered because I didn’t have the intention of returning and on the other hand I’m not so surprised because I had a bad feeling about the company. Things were not the same that used to be, there were changes, disadvantageous changes which pointed the end ahead but I wouldn’t had thought that it would happen in this way and so soon. Certainly, we can’t consider that final, there is nothing fixed yet, especially because the management (the broken one) hasn’t pronounced their views.
