In response to an immediate
invitation an immediate decision was made: Denmark was calling. Zoli invited us and made an open-handed unomissible
offer with reference to the unusually good weather which is really not common
there.
I asked him to give me half day
to think it through but actually half an hour was enough to arrange the
tickets, to postpone the party at my sister's place, to call the teacher for
asking if it was critical for Dominik to miss Monday and Tuesday and that's it.
We were ready for a Saturday-to-Tuesday Danish adventure.
For this time my plans were
to have a dip in the sea, to ride a bike and of course the obligatory Legoland
and that's all. It was a completely different experience to be there in such
good weather. Almost 30 degrees constantly for a week, 27°C gives sense to
announce heat alert (!) in Denmark. Till now, upon our visits it was always
changable but mainly colder and wet with showers. Now we didn't pack wellies. We
had the chance to put on swimming customes and to dip into the North Sea and
the Baltic Sea at the same weekend.
Zoli always finds out something
special where to go. Approaching from Esbjerg we visited Blåvand (=blue water),
the westernmost point of Denmark which is a fairy town at the seaside with a
lighthouse. The grassy dunes are dotted with identical brown thatched roof
houses. The view is very special and ideal for waiting for the sunset there. Loved
it! :-)
The Mennesket ved Havet (Four white men or Man meets the sea) in
Esbjerg is a 9 meter high monument at the seaside and can be seen from a
distance of 10 km and so when you are standing at the feet of the four white
men, you really feel small and to tell you the truth I also felt some envy
because they are in the position to admire the sea day and night. This was the
point where we could have a dip into the North Sea. It was unexpectedly warm!
Millions of shells were waiting for us in the sand and there was not shortage
of small jellyfish and crabs. Another interesting thing to visit in Esbjerg is
the Zoo & Aquarium. Thanks for this, and for all these, Zoli.
On the following day the Eastern
coast was next in line. The Baltic Sea was even more suitable for splashing in with its shoal entrance. We
tried Binderup Strand and met fascinating weekend houses and oh my God, I could
imagine myself in any of those! Little, cosy wooden houses with the same feature, however
all with something specific and of course, all with great view overlooking the
sea. Enjoyed walking among them under the sun while playing with the idea how comfortable
and idyllic life can be there. However, Zoli packed up three bikes onto and into
the car loaned from his boss, Jens, I stayed alone with my hungering desire to ride it at the end of the
day. The boys (Dominik and Zoli) totally agreed with each other to wait for me lying
on the beach. And then I was just pedaling and hardly could't get enough of the
view and the good feeling caused by the after-glow, the sea, the air, the wind
of my zest, the sheep on the beach, the reserve, the enjoyable cycling path. It
was amazing and one thing came into my mind seeing the road sign. If the first pic is
true, the second one must be true as well:
Then and there, the idea of a Danish cycling tour was born. Preferably involving road #5.

The last day was spent in
Legoland. Although, the park was extended with a new part Lego Ninjago, I
wasn't fully satisfied with the services provided and so a complaint letter was
written upon arrival. Despite the little inconveniences, we had a really good
time there again.
